WELCOME TO ROTATOR !!

Thank you for buying the full version of ROTATOR. If you're expecting a long story about being out to
save a beautiful princess I'm going to disappoint you because no-one ever takes any notice of that sort of thing anyway ... The object of the game is to collect all the diamonds on each level and then get tothe exit. Each level has traps and puzzles to get around. You shouldn't have too much difficulty working out what most of the objects do.

You can pause the game at any point by pressing the HELP key. You start the game with one piece of energy but for every 100,00 points you will get an extra piece of energy.

OPTION SCREEN

You can change the options on the title screen or  by pressing the relevant Function key during pause mode in the game.

SCROLL - SMOOTH / FOLLOW

Select smooth scrolling or lock scrolling

BOUNCE - ON / OFF (F10)

Turn bounce sound FX on / off.

SENSE - LOW / MEDIUM / HIGH (F1-F3)

Adjusts sensitivity, I.e. how quickly the craft changes spin when you press the joystick.

SLOW - DOWN / FIRE (F5)

This will slow your craft’s spin to nothing, allowing you to regain control. Remember that you might
still retain some momentum! Down means pull down on your joystick and fire refers to the second fire button (if you have one).

GAME - NEW / RESET

To restart the game from the beginning hold the fire button for 1 second during this option.

Note:  You can press HELP on the title screen to view the game instructions.

START

When you start the game you come to the level selector. The different coloured level names refer to the level state. Use joystick up / down to select a level and left / right to select a different world.

Level colours correspond to:-

GREEN - Level is playable

BLUE - Level has been completed

BROWN - Level is not yet open

World pictures are monochrome when they are not accessible, coloured when you can play them.

KEY IN GAME OBJECTS

DIAMONDS

KEYS

These are the shaped objects (square, circle, triangle and diamond) that can be placed in keyholes
to open doors. You can only hold one key at a time, the currently held key is shown under the score.

KEYHOLES

These accept the keys to open doors, but remember  that not every keyhole needs to be used. Some will open the wrong door, some with do nothing at all!

DOORS

Opened by putting a key in the correct keyhole.

SWITCHES

Used to turn off the forcefields  allowing you to pass.

FORCE-FIELD

Turned off by flicking the right switch, you can jump through force-fields with an energy penalty, or if you have collected a shield.

WATER

This is the brightly coloured section at the bottom of the level. Although you can enter the water you
can't stay under for too long, after a while a timer will appear above your head before you explode (in the game that is!) The water rises at varying rates.

CLOCK

Collect the clocks to stop the water rising for a short while.

SHIELD

Allows you to jump through force-fields and spikes without taking damage. Also allows you to
stay underwater for prolonged periods of time.

FANS

Fans are mounted in the walls and floors and will blow you off course.

SPRINGS

Springs will help you jump higher.

CRUMBLER

Crumbling platforms that you can only jump on a few times.

SPIKES

Spikes are dangerous and will deplete your energy if touched.

IN-GAME KEYS

Press HELP to pause the game.

Press ESC to self destruct.

(You will then be given the option to replay the level).

REPLAY

As you play a level the computer will record your actions, if you fail to complete the level and
retry it the computer will replay your previous attempt. Simply press fire once when the level is loaded to start the replay, you can then jump in at any time by pressing fire or moving the joystick, allowing you to regain control.

NOTE:- Holding 'F' during replay will fast-forward you through the replay.

PLAYING TIP

Remember that small amounts of rotation is the key to keeping control of your craft, if you are using
full rotation then you are likely to lose control! Full rotation should be kept for when you need a
large jump to cover a specific obstacle
