PLACEMENT TEST ● ANSWER KEY
The placement test for each level of the course consists of three sections.
· Questions 1–25 test vocabulary and grammar from a lower level, which students should already know before they start this level.
· Questions 26–75 test vocabulary and grammar from the level itself.
· Questions 76–100 test vocabulary and grammar from the level above.
For placing students, we would suggest the following approach according to scores:
· 10 and under correct: Consider starting the student at the level below. In the case of Level 1, consider providing extra remediation before the student starts the course and extra support through the course
· 10–40 correct: Start the student at the expected level and monitor progress to check whether remediation or extra support is required
· 50–75 correct: Consider an extra oral interview to determine whether the student should start at the expected level or could start at the level above, with extra support
· More than 75 correct: Start the student at the level above
