Introduction
Hornet Unity is a splatbook for the Yin Yang Panda role-playing game. It
contains basic information about the Hornet Unity—lands stretching from
the far reaches of the Locust Khanate to the marches of the Ladybird Re-
public, inhabited by a loose confederacy of freedom-loving peoples. Few
but the most industrious merchants venture beyond the Locust Khanate,
and those who do return with stories of riches and opportunities waiting for
those willing to settle in the frontier. We invite you to use this book to-
gether with the other half of the Realm of Two Sisters, the Ladybird Re-
public. Otherwise, please feel free to treat the entire stretch of land beyond
the Khanate as the Free Hornet Unity, as far west as your fancy takes you.
How to use this
To properly use Hornet Unity you will need the base Yin Yang Panda man-
ual and everything listed in it (people, dice, paper, pencils, and a few hours
of spare time). The knowledge of the Ladybird Republic splatbook is not
required, but may be useful as both countries form a sisterly alliance. All
participants should agree beforehand to use this manual during the game,
too. If this is the case, you can move to actually using the booklet, and you
can do it in two ways:

Add a splash of the Hornet Unity to the Dragonfly Empire. Play a Yin
Yang Panda story that takes place in the Dragonfly Empire and simply add
some elements from this manual to it. For example:
1. A bold warrior looking for a suitable spouse.
2. An artist willing to entertain local nobles with exotic songs and dances.
3. A merchant bringing a supply of gold and iron wares to trade.
4. A hardy explorer willing to discover new vistas.
5. A young champion wrestler in search of a challenge.
6. An up-and-coming embroiderer wishing to trade crafting techniques with
local artists.
In this case, it's usually best to assume that most of the player characters are
natives of the Empire, and that they act as guides and guardians of the pre -

cious few foreign characters.

Add a splash of the Dragonfly Empire to the Hornet Unity. Play a Yin
Yang Panda story that takes place in the Hornet Unity and add some ele-
ments from the basic game to it. For example:
1. A fighter who came from the Empire to learn martial arts.
2. A surveyor from the Empire looking to establish new mines, accompa-
nied by guards.
3. A diplomat from the Empire looking for an alliance against the Locust
Khanate.
4. A wonton cook looking for new dumpling recipes.
5. A martial arts teacher looking to spread their style.
6. A monk who vowed to travel the entire world.
In this case, it's usually best to assume that most of the player characters are
from the Empire and a small number of Unity characters act as their guides
and guardians.
