ISSUE 147
T
his issue has been
challenging as there’s
been so much to squeeze
into the 116 pages, to
bring you the best-value modelling
magazine: eight builds, exclusive
articles and more than 50 product
reviews and previews. As I write
this editorial it’s just before
Christmas, so by the time you read
it I hope you’ve received all you
wished for in terms of kits.
With that in mind, we’re delighted
to bring you news of Airfix’s 2023
release schedule, which is packed
with surprises for modellers of all
ages and skill levels. It’s great to
see the focus on new Starter Sets,
as these will hopefully attract more
people to the hobby – or perhaps
encourage those who gave it a try
during lockdown to pick up the
glue and paint once more. This
year’s big-ticket listings will surely
delight modellers and once more
it’s hats off to Airfix for including
subjects that haven’t been
covered well previously, along with
some re-releases that have been
eagerly anticipated.
But that’s not all – this issue has
another bumper batch of new
toolings for you to enjoy, whether
it’s the UK exclusive preview of
Revell’s 1/32 Hawker Hurricane
Mk.IIb or an in-depth look at the
Kinetic 1/48 F-16A MLU NATO
Viper. Furthermore, we’ve builds
of even more new products, with
Zoukei-Mura’s gorgeous 1/32 Bf
109G-14 and the Infinity Model
1/32 SB2C Helldiver. For armour
modellers we have a heavily
reworked Italeri 1/48 Sd.Kfz.234/2,
while those preferring smaller
aviation subjects can enjoy this
month’s cover build of the Airfix
1/72 Dornier Do 17Z.
In possibly one of the more
unusual dioramas we’ve included
in
AMW,
there’s a seascape base
for Revell’s 1/144 Type IIB U-boat,
which has a distinctly domestic
inspiration for the materials used
and just goes to show that there’s
often plenty around the house to
help you with the hobby.
