t’s often said that hobbies, as
with individuals, are not islands
and external events can have
a profound effect. Such is the
case as I write this editorial, in the
aftermath of HM Queen Elizabeth
II’s passing, having served the
UK as head of state for 70 years.
The
AMW
team extends its
heartfelt condolences to the
royal family, who bear not just
this loss but that of a much-
loved mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother. It’s perhaps
fitting from a hobby perspective
that a vehicle used by the-then
Princess Elizabeth during her
wartime service
has recently
been replicated in
scale form, allowing
modellers an
additional
opportunity to pay
respect to the late Queen
(see
AMW141
August 2022 issue).
One issue facing the wider
hobby is ongoing concern
over the price of kits, paints,
accessories and yes, magazines.
From a publishing perspective,
there have been big increases
in paper, distribution and utilities
